Franklin Community Bank is celebrating its tenth year of service to Franklin County and will be celebrating throughout the year with various community-oriented events.

Larry A. Heaton, President and CEO, commented, “We are proud of all that we have accomplished in our first decade of service to Franklin County and what better way to celebrate than to continue our track record of giving back to the community. Our plan is to schedule regular events throughout the year to celebrate with our customers and community partners.”

The first event will be “Breakfast with the Bank” on February 25^th from 8:00 to 10:00 a.m. at Applebee’s. All proceeds to be evenly split among Helping Hands, Lake Christian Ministry and Cool Branch Rescue Squad. Tickets are $5.00 each and can be purchased at each of our office locations and at the agencies benefitting from this event.

We encourage everyone to come out to support these community agencies.

Shred Day 2011

WE FILLED THE TRUCK!!! Shred day was a huge success with a steady flow of cars all morning bringing their paper to be shredded. Franklin Community Bank has sponsored this free service for the past 5 years and this is the first time that we filled the truck!! 10,000 LBS OF PAPER was shredded. Thanks to all who participated and are conscious of both protecting their identity and doing the right thing for our environment.

Teach Children to Save 2011

Teach Children to Save is a national campaign that raises awareness about the important role that banks and bankers play in helping young people develop lifelong savings habits. Franklin Community Bank Officers participated in this program on April 12, 2011 attending Snow Creek Elemenatary School and presented a program to their second grade classrooms.

Franklin Community Bank is proud to sponsor the annual Chug for the Jug 5K Road Race to benefit the Community Partnership for Revitalization. This years race takes place on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at 9 A.M. The race begins on Franklin Street near the Farmer’s Market in Rocky Mount.

We are looking forward to participating and are hoping to take home the coveted cup team trophy for the 5^th year in a row. Come out and cheer on the Franklin Community Bank team or become a participant of the race/health walk.

Free Community Shred Day!

Franklin Community Bank will be hosting a free community shred day partnering with Goodwill and Prudential Waterfront Properties hosting their annual E-Cycling day on Saturday, April 16, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. until 12:00 noon. Shred items will be accepted at the Rocky Mount Main Office, 400 Old Franklin Turnpike.

These events will provide Franklin County residents an environmentally friendly and convenient recycling and donating options. Whether you’re trying to go green or are concerned about protecting your identity, this is the event for you. Start collecting your old bank statements, credit card bills, utility bills, tax forms, etc. CINTAS will be there to shred all of your confidential information.

“Lights for Life Tops $260,000″

The community wide effort spearheaded by 3 of our Bank Directors has been successful in raising over $260,000. With those monies in hand, the project will now move forward and go out to bid in February. The result will be that all traffic signal intersections in Franklin County will be equipped with electronic devices to warn motorists that an emergency vehicle is approaching. Contributions made by L. D. Arrington, Danny Perdue, and Joel Shepherd along with a corporate contribution from Franklin Community Bank were instrumental in getting the fund raising effort underway.
